Livewire Pictures has been producing TV coverage of the prestigious BBC Proms, since 2019, following a competitive tender process.
Working in close collaboration with the BBC Proms office – which runs the world-famous festival – and TV commissioners, our specialist production teams produce coverage of up to 24 concerts per season, including the celebrated ‘Last Night of the Proms’, broadcast live on BBC Two and BBC One.
‘The First Night of the Proms’ is usually broadcast on BBC Two, with most other concerts in the July-September run at the Royal Albert Hall, being broadcast on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer.
Our coverage of the 2020 Last Night of the Proms, which took place in the midst of the pandemic, won the Broadcast Award for Best Lockdown Programme – Sport & Live. According to the Awards judges…
“Livewire Pictures went into what was only its second year producing the Proms facing up to one of the most difficult production challenges in the event’s lengthy history.”
Another judge said the event “summed up everything worthy of winning, overcoming huge technical challenges with great creative success”.
International programme sales are via BBC Studios Distribution.
